Ending Online Violence Against Women and Girls is a comprehensive initiative aiming to tackle the increasing problem of digital violence faced by women and girls in online environments. The initiative recognizes that online gender-based violence is a growing global issue that undermines women’s freedom of expression, safety, and participation in digital public life.
The project’s primary goals are to detect, monitor, and analyze harmful content directed at women and girls across digital platforms. It leverages advanced natural language processing (NLP) tools to automatically identify hate speech, threats, harassment, and misogynistic language, and provides an interactive, web-based platform that enables researchers, policymakers, and civil society actors to explore patterns of online violence in real time.
A key feature of the platform is its integration of two AI-driven tools: a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) Bot that provides evidence-based responses to user queries by retrieving relevant academic and policy documents, and a Correction Bot that detects and rewrites harmful or offensive language to promote respectful discourse.
These components are built on top of a multilingual dataset, continuously updated and evaluated through human-in-the-loop mechanisms to ensure fairness and contextual sensitivity. The project also collaborates with NGOs and academic institutions to reflect local legal frameworks and lived experiences.
By combining computational techniques with feminist research perspectives, the platform contributes to a safer and more inclusive digital environment for women and girls. It also supports evidence-based policymaking, advocacy, and public education through accessible tools and educational resources.
